Admissions Requirements

General Education Prerequisites

  • Associate's degree in Arts or Sciences, or the equivalent (i.e. 90 quarter credits or 60 semester credits) at an institution(s) accredited by a federally recognized agency. Of the 90 quarter credits, a minimum of 30 quarter credits must be obtained through general education courses (i.e. courses that cover written communication skills, quantitative skills and natural sciences, and humanities and social sciences).
  • 10 quarter credits or 7 semester credits of Anatomy & Physiology (at the discretion of the School, Anatomy & Physiology can be taken concurrently during the first year of study at WHTS).

Treatment Prerequisite

  • Applicants must be currently receiving Five Element Acupuncture treatments from a Five Element practitioner of their choice that has graduated from a Five Element Acupuncture school.
  • As an ongoing aspect of their education, students must continue with treatment as directed by their practitioner and be checked at least once a month.

Western Science Requirements

The following Western Science (WS) credits must be completed within the first two years of study at WHTS (before entering the Clinical Internship):

** Covered in "Clean Needle Technique" course which is taken later in the program.

In addition to the above required Western Science courses, a student must also have an additional 24 credits of general Western Science courses, which must be documented on official transcripts.

General Western Science courses can include the following areas: Anatomy, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Botany, Physiology, Psychology, Microbiology, Sociology, Zoology, Nutrition, and Physics.

Application Process

Please send or drop off the following to Wu Hsing Tao School:
1. Official Transcripts documenting general education and western science requirements (sent directly from accredited college or university)
2. Completed Application Form
3. Application fee of $100 (please do not send cash)
4. Personal Narrative (see application for details)
5. Completed and signed form from qualified Five Element Practitioner
6. Three Letters of Recommendations (sent directly to the school)
